Some said it’s valid, some said no. I have my doubts for a very long time ever since I started praying. Finally, I make time to search for the answer via online – at www.askimam.com.

Question:
Is namaaz* accepted if women pray with alcohol free make-up on? (wudhu done prior to putting make-up)

Answer:
The Salaat will be valid and Allah Ta’ala Knows Best.

So, now I must check whether the cosmetics I am using are alcohol free. But how to know which one contains alcohol? They don’t give me training on this alcohol thingy back in Clinique Cosmetics/ Clarins De Beaute. Can anyone help me on this?

*In case some of you don’t know what is Namaaz, please refer to the website below. http://brain.com.pk/~chishty/Fiqh/Namaaz.html

Secondly, some said one (female) should not show their feets when praying, some don’t even know that it’s one of the condition. The one who assured me that feets are not to be shown when praying is an old lady at Joo Chiat Complex, one of the shop which sells Islamic Books. I got the another answer from a website. However, I am still in doubt. Hmmm…

Conditions (Sharaait):

There are six conditions for Namaaz:

1. Purification, that is, the body and the clothes of the person saying Namaaz is purified;
2. The place where Namaaz is to be said is purified:
3. The satr’Aurat, that is to say, that part of the body to conceal which is compulsory is, infect, concealed. Nakedness in man consists of part of the body from the navel to the knees, and in woman it consists of the whole body, excepting face, hands and feet;
4. Istiqbaal-e-Qiblah, keeping the face and the breast towards the Qiblah;
5. saying Namaaz on time;
6. Defining the intent. Making a firm resolve in the breast is called intention (saying it by mouth is desirable).

    Well yanni, hi!

    So the aurat thingy. First and foremost always know that Allah judges us individually, there is no, pakaliao! altogether thingy. Next, solat is a test of integrity and also sincerity. Who would see if we solat in the deep of the night alone and weary?

    Finally, aurat for women in solat is define as the skin of which she hides. So the only skin she is allowed is the hands(tapak tangan hingga ke gelangan)and face(top of the forehead after the hair and right below the chin).
    The feet must be hidden. Some of the western even the other countries have classified that the feet can be shown, is misunderstood. Feets which skin’s have been covered like using socks can be shown. It is like covering oso. For more info do visit this site aite!

    Keep cool gurl!
    Salam.

    Salams Sis,

    As to what Bob said…it’s not that noone sees you. Allah sees you, so you prepare yourself to face your creator.

    Your clothes that you wear need to be clean.

    And if you do take your whudu before applying your make-up, your solat is valid. Alcohol is only haram when it is consumed for enjoyment as it is an intoxicant.

    We use alcohol in medicine, so it’s important to know that Islam is a practical religion. Look at everything in a practical light, don’t make it hard for yourself!

    Now, if your whudu is batal (i.e you touch a non-mahram, go to the toilet, pass wind, etc.), then you have to remove all of your make up and take your whudu all over again.

    I had this same problem before.

    Then I slowly stopped using make up. I know, it’s soooooo hard to let go but for the sakes of Allah and to make my life easier to do my solat, I don’t wear make up. Maybe some loose powder that can be recoated once you’ve taken your whudu, but that’s about it. Allah knows our intention.

    Only Allah knows best!

    Hope all goes well for you!

    Wasalam
