OMG!!! What a night spent with Shida, Dayana & Ida. Last night, we decided to have Sushi for our dinner. The 3 of us except for Shida were like from don’t know which village. Hahah! From Sri Lanka to Singapore trying Japanese Food. No lah, actually Shida was blur too. Sakae Sushi rules & regulations about Ala Carte & Buffet Meal are damn complicated and we don’t wish to waste more $. We spent half an hour deciding what to order. We don’t know 99% of the food there! We don’t know the names of the food and what is it inside except for EBI which is prawn.
I asked the waitress what is Fried Maki. She simply repeats after me and show the menu, telling me it’s Fried Maki. DUH!!! You mean I don’t know how to read the menu. I am asking her what is it, and she’s telling me that its Fried Maki is a Fried Maki. WTF! I know lah Fried Maki, but what is it inside. And the waitress told me something like Fried Sushi. Ok I gave up!
Then I asked her If I order Ala Carte, can I order the side dishes like these few (I showed her the page). And she said - NO, You can’t! I asked her why not, I am paying for it. She told me, it’s only for Buffet Meal. You are ordering Ala-Carte; you can’t order anything from the Buffet Meal. And I went like huh! It’s stated as $1.90 each, why can’t I order it? I just want one of this only. She insisted NO! You can’t!
Eh WTF! They should have just state at some of the pages - “NOT SOLD SEPERATELY! ONLY FOR BUFFET MEAL!” It’s very frustrating talking to the staffs. They don’t even know how to describe Tempura and Otate. Ok maybe I am just ignorant and stupid when comes to Japanese Food. But first time what! Cannot blame lah! All the waitress simply read the name of the dishes instead of telling us what is inside each sushi which we asked! As if we don’t know how to read.
I ended up with 2 to 3 spoonfuls of my Ala Carte Dish and watched Shida eating and enjoying every bit of the Sushi which she took from the Buffet Bar. Nabei! As soon as we left the place, I went to buy 2 croissants from Delifrance. Ceh! So embarrassing! We kept laughing at each other stupid faces. We kept debating with each other and came out with few suggestions on how they should do their promotions. Hahaha!
A Lesson To Learn - Don’t be yaya!
Any wastage, they will charge you. Huh! A bit different from Seoul Garden. We are already paying seperately for certain items and we still need to pay extra if we can’t finish them up. Ok lah whatever…

hehehe… well, not many people will enjoy sushi…for once, I ADORE sushi!!! you should try the buffet ones.. those that come round and round the table.. its more worth it, than ordering the meal set… which i dont usually practice…
and, if u decided to go there again, you should try the fried stuffs, if you dont like the raw food.. my recommendation will be
- soft shell crab
- fried tofu
- the GYOZA!!! MY FAVORITE.. and lots of those who dont eat sushi will like this fried stuffs…
and if you want to try something raw, and nice, should try salmon… but not many would enjoy the taste…
dont say its your first and last lah.. hehehe… must try second time… maybe you came at the wrong foot…
eddyboi - i let shida try buffet then we all ask her to curi2 for us and taste it quickly. i dont like 95% of the sushi, i dont take the raw ones. yucks! some of the sushi looks gross. i tried the fried one, some nice some no. gyoza apa tu??? aiyoyo!!!! salmon raw no way! yucks! maybe i can only buy the take away ones, simple and not gross… hahah!!!
im not a fan of raw food, but i like some jap foods.
next time try the egg thingy called chawanmushi.
i LOVE LOVE LOVE sushi.. and i know how to make it too.. maybe i shud make u some.. thats not so raw.. so that u can actually try and test..
i TOTALLY agree with eddyboi!! they are the best few suggestions for a non-sushi munching person.. and gyoza is a pan fried dumpling.. with filling of prawns usually.. its sorta like wantan.. but different skin.. my all time favourite too.. i ALWAYS order without fail. kwang kwang kwang.. and the deep-fried tofu.. aka agedeshi tofu [pron: AG-A-DASH-eeee] doesnt really taste like tahu..

malique - raw food taste like fark. i wonder how the rest can swallow that stuff… eeewww..
asilah - educate me on japanses cuisine? hahah!!! you will end up in frustration trying to make me understand. i will debate with you until you got no more answers… hahah!!! you can make sushi too. me too, i just cook some rice, gulung2 gentel2 and put tuna inside lah, and cut. ta da - my own sushi. hahah!! senangnye…

I love Jap food but I hate seaweed!! hhahah so any food that comes with seaweed I’ll either skip or take the effort to pick out the seaweed.
Eh if you go Japan, go try the live octopus. I tried it once. They cut the live octopus then immediately serve you, with the thing still wriggling. Confirm muntah!!!
If there’s something i can never try, it’s sushi…

edroos - im ok with seaweed but yesterday the seaweed at sakae sushi no taste, tak macam yang dalam plastic packet we always buy from primary school stall yang selling for 10cents or 5 cents tu.. tak sedap then i gave back to shida…

you can take things off the conveyer belt. But one plate is $2 hahaha=) Just ambik lor..=)
dee - tak boleh, dia tak kasi i order even though i am payign for it. they said its only for those who eat buffet. not ala carte. nonsense kan… i sampai suruh shida amek mana i nak cos she is under buffet, then i curi2 makan. hhaha!!!
I am never fond of sushi either.. Never ever try it before. But Me wife love it very much.. Don’t know why she like it though.. She always complain every time we went out, never get the chance to eat at Sakae sushi. That’s because I don’t want to. Now she eat that sushi mostly with her friends. Haha..
uanz - you ni sometime must give in and accompany her you know. just bring her to sakae and you watch her eat lah. im sure she will appreciate it. then after that, you ask her to follow to the place you want to eat pulak. then dia tengok kan you makan. hahah!!! turn by turn…
hahaha..selenger lah you adik… and the waitress too. so korang macam dua kali lima dol!! LOL! The moral of the story, next time wanna go there must bring me and also PAY for me!!! ;P
Maybe the waitress baru one day there lah sweetie.. give her a break ok!!! So rupanya yesterday when I call you were there feeling like hell lah eh!!
give me sushi & i’ll be orgasmic! serious. but i only eat certain types ah. but sadness! im allergic to my favourite sushi, which is shrimp roe. mak kau, makes me break out! its still my favourite though, even though i never eat it anymore.. ):

shakirrah - allergic to seafood eh? me too allergic to seafood. i will not have breakouts i cuma turn into monkey kejap je. hahah! sometime i stubborn, i dont care just eat only. then quickly take medicine.. so poor thing lah we all yang allergic to this and that…

diana hairul - hahah, tu lah kan, siapa suruh baca… hahah!!! bila yang kak diana free? kita jumpa kat luar lah… ani nanti sesat seh kat punggol nye area. tu tempat so the ulu and complicated. hahah barbie doll, nasib baik tak beli kan. ah ah seh gi taka pimpin tangan, belikan balloon mickey mouse, kipaskan dengan postcards..hahah!! time tu ingus lagi.

fai - kitalah the only group yang paling kecoh kat tu sakae sushi. haha! the laughters and the curi2 sushi so funny lah.. hahah!
